Okay so here is the concept.

In some ways it is like RISUS except instead of selecting cliche's you select Wikipedia pages. You then assign ranks to them in the same way as Risus. The neat part is for leveling up. For every rank you have on a page beyond the first you gain a new rank 1 in a page that links from the original.

For instance, if I had rank 3 Ninja. I could take rank 1 Feudal Japan and rank 1 Samurai.

Now when you perform an action, find all the pages in which you poses a rank that reference the kind of action being performed and grade the pages A, B, C where A has a lot to do with the action and C only tangentionaly mentions it.
For every A grade page roll a D6; 3,4,5,6's are successes
For every B grade page roll a D6; 5,6's are successes
For every C grade page roll a D6; 6's are successes

Tally successes and compare against an obstacle.

Anyway that there is a few minutes of creative thinking.

Love it. But what setting? I think that this would somewhat exclude fantasy, at least for the truly fictional bits.

I think it could work for most settings. I mean WP has lots of pages on fictious or mythological topics.

Hydromancy
Wizard

But admittidely it might be hard for some things.

Another thing I realized, is that you can also describe your characters possesions and role them in to the system in the same way. Just have to make sure that players aren't walking around with one of these. Then Again maybe you don't.

I can see this working well in a modern or historical setting. I like the idea. It's a neat twist on an already pretty neat system.

Now now lets not be to hasty in wanting to play as we would need a world with a start town and weather it's fantasy, modern, or middle ages. We would need this first.

Okay sure so that means for everything you do the everything page would apply but only at Rank C. So that page would grant you in effect one aditional success 1/6th of the time. Basically the same as a "Jack of all trades" sort of asset.

This game might never get off the ground if everyone just spends their time wiki-trailing. I know I would.

Similar concept: Rock Risus
Each character chooses a theme song for which the lyrics count like cliches.

Eg. The Joker - Steve Miller Band
