See: Firefly Villains for the news about the currently running campaign.

Concept: A campaign where the players play villanous characters in the firefly setting. Not evil characters per se just people who are more on the black side of things.
Players: 4
Start Date:
Character making session Friday, Jan 21
First Session Friday, Jan 28

Correction I got those days off by a week. Should be:
Character making session Friday, Jan 28
First Session Friday, Feb 4

Unless of course there does happen to be time on the 21st

Applicants please post Character name, concept and description.

Name: Barnabas Grumblycakes (last name subject to change)

Concept: Just some average joe, working like a slave for Blue Sun Inc. in the mining and surveying dept. Sort of an impressionable, timid, keener with nothing much to live for but the weekends cortex tourneys, a girl he fantasizes about but never talks to, and an annoying boss who he thinks is the coolest because he has an office with a window and a convertible. His world could do with some shaking up.

Seems I need more description in order to get the lallygaggers (however you spell that) to post.

In most of the campaigns I have taken part in, even when the characters are supposed to be the good guys, the always seem to wander into the grey side.
For instance
QUOTE (GM)
You see goblin slave camp in the valley bellow the humans are being beaten and forced to work the mines

QUOTE (Players)
We should report this to the authorities.

QUOTE (GM)
There is also a large pile of gold.

QUOTE (Players)
Lets save that gold, I mean those slaves.

The goal hear is to stop skirting the issue and just play as low life men or woman (it's an equal opertunity cesspit) of crime in a despicable, and filthy world. Also it gives players a chance to explore new characters. A lot of criminals (not the petty kind) do some pretty horrible things and live some pretty horrible lives, and when it comes down to it most of them are where they are because the want to be. Sometimes for a sense of freedom, personal punishment, the excitement of living life on the edge, or the knowledge that the life will follow them anywhere. The reasons are endless, take an opportunity to explore those reasons.

I'm going to post my character sometime today. Just give me some time to determine his name.

Name: Clyde Wesson

Concept: Recon, and occasional gun-arm. He's there to make things go smooth.

Description: Clyde is middle aged, yet still physically fit. He has a keen eye for details and a near-photographic memory. His wartime experience has given him experience in stealth, as well as the use of firearms. His more recent criminal experience, has given him afair knowledge in the use of surveillance equipment as well. He also has an interest in gambling, as he has managed to make a decent side profit off it.

Quick Background Despite coming from a family favoring independence, Clyde instead decided to join up with the Alliance in the Unification war, despite his younger brother siding with the browncoats. Clyde served as scout for a small team operating a Tank Hunter along with [Charlie]. After the war, he returned home to find that his younger brother had died in the war, and that Clyde had been cast out from his family. Clyde tried several jobs working for the alliance, but found that his peers viewed him with disdain and suspicion due to his background prior to the war. Eventually he got fed up, and tried to find other sources of work that would be able to make better use of his skills, and eventually settled into a life of crime, and built up something of a name for himself, eventually being hired to work for [Dingo's character]. Clyde recruited [Charlie] to the team, upon hearing that he was down on his luck and was in sore need of cash.

Name: Charlie Summers

Concept: An intimidating combatant and overconfident wheelman. Psychologically scared by the unification war and physically scared by skiff racing, he needs little provocation to utilise his cybernetically powered strength.

Description: He tends to view the world in black and white and prefers strait forward solutions to obstacles. When angry he becomes impulsive and reckless. He learns slowly and dislikes being forced to change. The Alliance taught him most of the skills he possesses; during the Unification war he served as a driver in a tank destroyer. Despite not demonstrating it in the war, Charlie’s primary focus of ability has always been swordsmanship. Before being drafted he was formally trained at [an academy]. After the war, traumatized by what he had seen, he briefly became a pacifist and swore never to raise his sword against another. During this time he focused his efforts on his ability to drive and despite not being as skilled in this area as swordplay he did manage to earn a living skiff racing. The job was intense; to stay competitive racers abandoned safety and many died as a result. One day Charlie had a severe accident as well but survived and recovered over the course of a several months, dozens of surgeries and scores of implants.

Physically Charlie is in his early thirties and miraculously average in appearance. He stand a little over six feet and weighs about two hundred pounds; he would be lighter without the enhancements. His cybernetic implants are noticeable under his skin if you know what you’re looking for; they mostly aid his strength and agility, but also reinforce him against future trauma. They demand he maintains his original physique meticulously lest they fall out of balance.

Unable to keep racing Charlie has been slowly paying off the relatively small amount insurance wouldn’t cover by working as a bouncer and occasional enforcer for the casino that used to sponsor him. After the accident he was left unable to find a new sponsor or afford any personal insurance. The extreme cost of his surgeries had bankrupted the insurer; most accidents in skiff racing leave no survivors and even when they do the company can usually pay off a hospital staff member, but unbeknownst to Charlie his accident had been orchestrated by a rival insurance company and safeguards against such an incident were in place. The perceived loss of reaction speed and agility further exiled Charlie from his chosen profession. Recently he was recruited by his old war buddy Clyde Wesson to work for [Dingo’s Character].

Looking good so far. Noticed that every one's character seems to have had a relatively stable life at one point . True everyone is in a different stage of transition, but I had expected at least on person to be born into the life. Ah but surprises are half the fun.

Name: Bill MacIntosh

Concept:
Shrewd businessman and capable fighter; former officer of the private military contractor, VectorCorp.

Description: Bill had been an Alliance Navy cadet in high school, but despite showing aptitude in his training, he yearned for something more lucrative. So after high school and university, his father, a high-level official at VectorCorp, got him a job there. During the Unification War, VectorCorp was brought in by the Alliance to handle some of the smaller Independent holdings. Bill saw the war as a business, and always considered what was best for VectorCorp, even if it meant acting completely outside the mission parameters. For this he was rewarded. His status only grew, and by the end of the war he had a significant circle of allies and a nice, cushy seat at shareholders' meetings.

After the war, Bill was assigned to manage the protection of Alliance fisheries on Beaumonde. Not satisfied with simply patrolling the waters, he made it a point to get to know the scene and the people who posed a threat to the fisheries. He carved a neat niche in the underworld there, maintaining useful alliances and diverting enemies. When VectorCorp went under, he was in a perfect position to set up his own shop, working as an information broker and all-around problem solver.

Despite efforts not to come across as pretentious to his contacts, his manner, looks, and style have a certain movie-star quality. Bill is fabulous. As a result, he is the butt of many jokes, despite the fact that people tend to like and respect him. While essentially a businessman, his Alliance and VectorCorp training allow him to put on different hats to get the job done. In combat he favors pistols and hand-to-hand.

Posts are in. Recruiting is closed.

Things to keep in mind for the character creation session.
I would like a character picture (anything can do, photo of a real person, drawing cartoon)
Basic stats: weight, height, hair color, eye color, blood type.
Basically anything that would be in your police file

These are not needed but will be helpful to me.
