Fraser Valley RPG > Real World > New World of Darkness Compaign

Posted by: Blacktrench Jan 26 2012, 02:04 AM
Hello everybody!

I am looking to run a New World of Darkness campaign for 3-4 players on that is heavily focused on character interaction and a collaborative proactive play style. Now what do I mean by collaborative? Well I would like to run a story with the the smallest amount of railroading possible, ideally with none at all. This story would be one where you as the player can actually change the goals, focus, and destination of the main plot on a large scale and are encouraged to do so!

Due to the almost collaborative nature of this project I can only give you guys a basic idea of what I would like to run. First, this is the world of darkness so things will be dark. You can except to run into themes such as tragedy, death, suffering and corruption; will you sink into despair or rise above these challenges grasping hope, redemption, and potentially salvation?

Second, you will all start as humans as I would like everyone to start off with the same potential, yes you all will have the potential to become something greater than just a human however as I mentioned whether you delve into the darkness and come out changed or shield yourself against it will be up to you.

I haven't chosen a time period for this campaign to take place in, the time period is of little conscience to the story; in light of that fact I have chosen to let those that are interested in this campaign to pick the time period that my story will take place in (within reason! No World of Darkness Stone Age tongue.gif).

If you are interested in joining or have any questions please post them below along with your suggested time period and what days of the week work best for you.

Cheers happy.gif

I'm definitely available Mondays and Saturdays. Wednesdays are a maybe, depending on if we're doing board games a Jeremy's every week or every other week. Fridays we're currently doing Mass Effect on a weekly basis but we may be going back to every other week once Jeremy's done with his arc. Sundays are a maybe, as I'm typically shooting movies on Sundays, but we typically end out day of shooting at around 5:00, so that might work.

In terms of time period, I would ideally want to play in sometime during the industrial revolution era, though I'd be happy with anytime before the rise of the internet and the "global village". Modern day is still okay, I guess, but I think I'd have more fun where there is more need for actual travel in order to get things done.

Hey Greg,

Thanks for your schedule, and your period suggestions. To elaborate on your desire for globe trotting, I will allow my players to move the plot to different locations. I will likely pick the starting location however where you guys go from there is up to you, so to anyone else interested in playing please keep that in mind when thinking about what periods you'd like to see. happy.gif

I'm in, as long as scheduling works. This semester has me really busy in the evenings, so the only evenings I have free for RPG's are Fridays and Saturdays. Those might still be a little iffy, though, since my band might end up playing some of those nights once we start getting gigs.

As far as time period goes, I'm in agreement with Greg in that I'd like to play in a pre-internet era. I can't quite explain why this is, but the Eighties and early Nineties have a certain appeal to me.

Posted by: trick Jan 27 2012, 03:13 PM
I'd be interested. I'm free on Mondays and Thursdays, at the moment. I might be free Fridays too.

Posted by: Blacktrench Jan 27 2012, 03:52 PM
Glad to see more responses! smile.gif

It looks like the day that are best for everyone so far would be a bi-weekly Friday alternating with Mass Effect.

How likely is Fridays going to work for you Trick?

If Fridays are untenable Dingo, there is no way you could do Monday right?

As for setting it seems that pre-internet is the consensus so far, Trick also mentioned to me earlier that he would be interested in Industrial Revolution as well. We won't make any final decisions on setting until a week from my original post (February 2nd) to give anyone else who would like to join a chance to post their own ideas, schedule, etc.

Posted by: dingo Jan 28 2012, 05:21 PM
I have a class on Monday evenings, so no.

Posted by: trick Jan 30 2012, 11:25 AM
I should be able to make a bi-weekly Friday work. I might have to miss once in a blue moon, but that's okay.

Posted by: Greg Jan 30 2012, 11:52 AM
So we're looking at Fridays opposite of Mass Effect?

I that a really fun time period that everyone would probably enjoy would be the roaring 20's.

Posted by: Blacktrench Jan 30 2012, 12:01 PM
Alright, thanks for the quick responses Dingo & Trick.

Yes Greg, unless anyone has any objections I will be holding this campaign bi-weekly on Fridays alternating with Mass Effect.

On Thursday I will be cutting off setting suggestions and we will vote. Following the voting we will have a character creation session and be on our way.

Cheers smile.gif

Posted by: Aggregate Jan 30 2012, 04:49 PM
If there's still a spot open I'm interested.

Posted by: Blacktrench Jan 30 2012, 06:11 PM
Yes there is a spot still open for you Aggregate smile.gif

Do you have any time period suggests? If so, please post them before Thursday.

Posted by: Blacktrench Feb 2 2012, 12:54 AM
Alright gang, it is Thursday so time period suggestions are finalized! biggrin.gif

We have a choice between:

The Industrial Revolution,

The Roaring 20's,

The 80's/90's.

Please choose of two of the three time periods, a primary and a secondary, and post them below. I will tally the votes on Sunday evening or when all parties have voted, whichever occurs first.

Posted by: dingo Feb 2 2012, 10:04 AM
1. The 80's/90's
2. The Roaring 20's

There's my vote.

Posted by: Greg Feb 2 2012, 10:11 AM
1. 1920's
2. Industrial Ravolution

I'm entirely not against 80's/90's, it's just that there are other time periods that I'd enjoy more.

Posted by: trick Feb 2 2012, 01:31 PM
1. Industrial Revolution
2. 1920's

Posted by: Aggregate Feb 2 2012, 02:27 PM
1. Industrial Revolution
2. The 80's/90's

Posted by: Blacktrench Feb 2 2012, 03:37 PM
Everyone has voted and our winner is...

Industrial Revolution!

With the time period decided I would like to set up a character creation session as soon as possible. Mass Effect will likely be next Friday (Feb 10th) so I would like to aim for February 17th. If it turns out that Mass Effect is not on the 10th that would also work for me. Please post whether or not the 17th or potentially the 10th works for you.

Thank you everyone for responding so quickly with your votes; I am looking forward to showing you my World of Darkness! smile.gif

Posted by: dingo Feb 2 2012, 04:36 PM
The next Mass Effect session hasn't been scheduled yet as far as I know. Next Friday I will be busy (with my band playing our first gig at TWU!), so that doesn't really work for me...

Posted by: Blacktrench Feb 2 2012, 05:47 PM
Thanks for the update Dingo. Mass Effect has been going weekly as of Jeremy's arc as far as I know so I must assume that it will resume the following week due to it not being this Friday because of Greg's Game Night deal (hence planning for two potential Fridays ahead). smile.gif

So as it stands you are busy on February 10th, correct?

Posted by: trick Feb 3 2012, 11:02 AM
I'm free either night, I think (though, I'm busy on March 23, so in the long run Feb 17 works better for me).

Posted by: Greg Feb 12 2012, 07:36 PM
Are we a go for the 17th?

Posted by: Blacktrench Feb 12 2012, 07:40 PM
As it stands yes the 17th is a go. Do you guys want to meet up after dinner or before and grab something to eat during? Either option is fine with me.

Posted by: Greg Feb 12 2012, 08:49 PM
Dinner actually sounds like it may be a good idea. It could also be a good way of splitting up the game setup between discussion of the setting/party before delving into individual characters.

Posted by: Blacktrench Feb 14 2012, 06:10 PM
Alright unless anyone has any objections, we will meet up around 5:30 pm at my place, get food then have our session. If there is any issues please contact me directly or post here before the 17th otherwise I will assume you will be in attendance at the specified time.

See you all soon smile.gif

Posted by: trick Feb 16 2012, 05:43 PM
I might be a few minutes late, but otherwise that should be fine. Can you PM me your house number? I'm not quite sure I'll recognise the place.

Posted by: Aggregate Feb 17 2012, 04:23 PM
I'll be there but a bit late, after six probably.

Posted by: Blacktrench Feb 28 2012, 03:04 PM
Hey guys, I am just confirming our next session will be this Friday, March 2nd. I assume that meeting at a similar time is fine around 5:30 pm to 6 pm. Please contact me if you cannot make it, thanks.

Captain William Fitzgerald is the second son of Lord Henry Fitzgerald and Charlotte Fitzgerald, Baroness de Ross. His older brother Henry Fitzgerald is the current heir to the Barony de Ross. The Fitzgerald family estate is Boyle Farm, a mansion located on the banks of the Thames River in Surrey, England. They also have another house London which is William’s primary place of residence.

William participated in the later part of the Napoleonic wars, working his way up to Captain. William joined the military not only as an alternate means of acquiring status in the social circles of the English nobility, but also as an excuse to travel abroad, as exploring is one of William’s primary interests. By using both his social connections and noble background, William has attained a fairly loose leash from the military, and is largely free to do as he pleases.

During the War, William participated in both sacking and then raising a French town to the ground. He has managed to rationalize this as both following orders of the higher ups, and working for the greater good of the empire. However since then, he has come to view almost any non-British-citizen as being lesser than those within, though he typically shows this tends to vary, ranging from sheer hatred to patronizing amusement.

Following the war, William has maintained connections with ________, a soldier that served under him during the war, as he considers _________ to be a man who is capable of getting things done, regardless of _________’s feelings on the matter.

There is something of a rivalry between the Captain William and his elder brother Henry, due to the fact that Henry is heir to their mother’s title of Barony, as well as heir to the larger portion of the family fortune. While Henry is possibly twice the party man William is, he lacks the sense of adventure of his younger brother, and is typically either gambling or hosting elaborate parties at the family estate.
William’s primary goals in life are:
a) A) Attain a higher rank in British Society.

cool.gif b)Acquire through personal achievement and discovery, a reputation for being quite possibly the most interesting person alive.

c) c)Expand the influence of the British Empire.

I'd like to make a little amendment to the the backstory: that the raised town be Spanish and not French. First, it makes sense because at that point in time, Napoleon was fighting the British in Spain (in the Peninsular War). The Peninsular War was quite convoluted. First, France and Spain attack Portugal (and Britain). Then France attacks Spain. Spain's government is defeated by the country continues guerrilla warfare with the support of the British.

What happens in our story, is that our regiment comes across a Spanish town that is loyal to France. In some ways this is even more tragic, because the Spanish were more victims of the war than anything else.

Here's a copy of my backstory for everyone to read:

James Hunt

James has always been a scraggly fellow. Because he was the son of British factory owner, he often received the bullying of the poor children. When he was in school, he often spent recess off in the corner, to avoid any trouble.
As a result, when James finished primary school, he was taken out of the public school system and sent to a private tutor. Here, he studied modern sciences and engineering. He also began to work for his father, maintaining and repairing the machinery in the factory. As he got older, he even suggested a few improvements.
His education was going well and he was just accepted to Oxford when he got charged with robbery. He never figured out who was behind it (it wasn’t him), but the goods were found in his garret and so there was enough evidence to send him too jail. Hoping to get out sooner, James joined the army, and because of his education, he was placed in the newly formed British light infantry (43rd Regiment).
He fought against the French for 5 years till the war was over, and he did not leave the army unchanged. All the horrors, and one particular event where he was involved in the slaughter of Spanish village, thought to be containing French sympathizers, dulled his conscience.
He has recently just been released from his service and arrived back in London. His goal is to find his brother, make a living, and hopefully get back into Oxford at some point.

That revision is fine with me.

Hey guys, since we didn't have time to handle experience last session we will be doing it at the beginning of next session, March 16th.

I recommend you go through your character sheet and mark down what skills/attributes you used last session as it will be important if you want extra experience. How do I get this extra experience you ask? I will include a breakdown of my rewarding system

Posted by: dingo Mar 15 2012, 12:49 AM
Timothy Clifford

Physically, Timothy has a young look, could be mistaken for younger than his actual 24 years. He generally dresses well, with an understated yet composed fashion sense. Of course, he is seen on campus in his scholar’s gown. He carries himself with purpose and contemplation, like every movement he makes is done for a reason.

Timothy is the third son of Count Gerald and Alice Clifford. His brothers are Benjamin and David, and their oldest sister is Amelia. Timothy is currently in his last year of Oxford seminary.

His parents are distinguished people, if somewhat irreverent of social norms. His father is highly artistic: constantly drawing and singing, a real hit at social gatherings. He has a somewhat eccentric air about him which is mesmerizing to many, but which makes other really wonder about him.
His mother capably manages household affairs and is a solid, sensible woman. She taught Amelia to take charge of the boys, kept older brothers’ mischievous habits in check, and fostered Timothy’s intellectual abilities. Wanting her children to be independent and successful, she invested time and money into her their education, and it paid off. Amelia married an even wealthier man than her father, and Benjamin developed into an excellent heir, with a keen business sense and the wife who everybody else wanted. David… well, David is very much like his father. All the ladies love David.

Timothy is one of only a handful in his college who actually wants to become clergy. He has a love for philosophy and theology, and his professors have taken notice of his intelligence and understanding of complex theories and paradoxes. His writing and speaking skills have also developed nicely, and he is known for giving insightful and compelling sermons. However, these traits have also lead him to frustration with the actual Anglican churches, and he envisions a more genuine and vibrant form of worship. Likewise, though he regards some of them quite highly, his professors’ and colleagues’ inability to see beyond the realm of the Church of England makes him yearn to get away for a while when he gets the chance.

His friendships are quite healthy ones. He has gained a rapport in the Diocese of Oxford, having been involved in churches there since his undergraduate years. He has a small group of close friends in his church, where they challenge each other intellectually and spiritually. Generally speaking, he considers few social interactions to be really worthwhile. However, those relationships he carries on he treats as very valuable, and worthy of his loyalty and investment.

All of his older siblings have had success in the realm of romance and/or sex. He, however, has not, and to be sure it bothers him. Sexually frustrated would not be an unfair term. His naturally independent nature and high standard of character makes this difficult, as does his lack of experience.

• Make pilgrimage throughout Europe, the Holy Lands, and perhaps even America, in order to gain a broader perspective on life and faith.
• Finish his degree and get placement in the church.
• Find ways to minister to his flock intellectually and spiritually.
• Find a woman worth his time.
* New Goals (Session 2) *
• Get Eli off the junk.
• Have the gang over for dinner before the holidays are over.

Hey all!

With the success of today's mini session with Greg and Aggregate I am thinking of having more tiny sessions like these to help with each character's personal stories. If the need arises and if you want to do something with your characters that requires more attention than downtime summaries please don't hesitate to bring it up with me.

Cheers smile.gif

Posted by: Blacktrench Apr 3 2012, 01:55 AM
Hello victims, I mean players! happy.gif

You will be getting 4 days of downtime! from the 26th of December to the 30th Please e-mail me your list of things you want to do during that period. Since we left off mid day on the 25th last session you will be allowed that afternoon as well.

Aggregate I will e-mail how your downtime will unfold ASAP,

See you all on the Friday the 13th Session *evil laugh* laugh.gif

Hey guys,

Quick note, I would like to have your downtime activities sent to me by Wednesday as otherwise I might not have time to incorporate for the Friday session; I hope this isn't too big of an inconvenience. If you cannot get it to me by Wednesday for this session I understand as I gave you only 3 days warning but from this session on I will expect all downtime activities sent to me by the Wednesday before session or they will be not taken into account.

Thanks and see you soon happy.gif

Posted by: Greg Apr 9 2012, 07:04 AM
Would it work if I were to give them to you ON Wednesday?

Posted by: Blacktrench Apr 9 2012, 10:33 AM
Anytime on Wednesday is fine.

Posted by: Blacktrench May 1 2012, 07:41 PM
Hello everybody,

I am just about to e-mail off each of you new info regarding your Regnant relationships but I wanted to discuss the request for downtime here before I do that. I am finding it difficult to put it in between last session and the next one due to the fact you all have just arrived back in London. If you guys really would like to have downtime time I suggest we have a mini session before the 11th then I can work in downtime very easily before the official session; if not we will have no downtime and the normal session on May 11th.

Let me know whether or not you want to try for that, I am fine either way. smile.gif

Posted by: dingo May 1 2012, 07:47 PM
Well, we won't be doing Mass Effect on Friday, so technically we probably could do a session. The way I see it, though, downtime is for the natural pauses in the game. The reason I asked about it at the end of session was that I mistakenly thought that we had come to a natural pause, when in reality we still need to go over some things. I'm not interested in forcing downtime when there's more to be done in-game.

Posted by: Blacktrench May 1 2012, 08:16 PM
I agree completely which is why I suggested a mini session as it would move the plot long enough to have a lull in the action. The mini session is still offered as I am done school and have more free time however it won't be on Friday as I work til 9:30 pm.

Edit: I really shouldn't call it a mini session as everyone will be attending (all or nothing), think of this as an extra full session tongue.gif

Posted by: trick May 1 2012, 08:48 PM
I can do Monday, but that's probably it. If it's a problem, Grant, I'd be okay with you playing my character for a short session.

Posted by: Greg May 1 2012, 09:13 PM
Sounds good to me. I'll need to figure out which of my goals I should be pursuing first.

Posted by: dingo May 1 2012, 10:30 PM
I'm busy both Friday and Saturday, and Mass Effect is on Sunday. So not this weekend.

Posted by: Blacktrench May 1 2012, 10:32 PM
Well Monday sounds like the best option atm. I don't have my work schedule for that day yet but I doubt I am working.

Posted by: Blacktrench May 3 2012, 11:57 PM
It looks like Monday is a go, 5:30 pm as per the normal time. I have yet to hear from Aggregate but we will assume it is fine unless I am contacted otherwise. I will see you guys on Monday.

P.S. Remember your homework (look up your new discipline in the core requiem book so you know how to use it to its full potential!) smile.gif

Dingo - Auspex
Trick - Majesty
Greg - Animalism
Aggregate - Obfuscate

Hey guys,

I just recently uploaded a list of the hacks/house rules I am using for our nWoD game. As we play and learn I will change/add/remove as seen fit but please check out this link so you are fully aware. smile.gif

Posted by: Blacktrench May 18 2012, 01:13 PM
Attention Greg & Trick!

Monday's mini session will be at 5:30 pm.

Attention everybody!

Everyone will be getting an experience allotment for the time lapse (even Dingo's new character, R.I.P. Timothy Clifford tongue.gif), it will be substantially less experience to time ratio than you are used to as this period is a lull in the dramatic action however it will allow you do get some new shiny over the year. I will assign the experience to everyone after Monday's mini session.

Friday's Session will begin after the time lapse (although we might have a flash back or two) so be prepared to see some changes in the World of Darkness!

I'll see you on Monday Greg & Trick, and I will see the rest of you on Friday. happy.gif

Will I have a pile of unused resource points when I get out of the loony bin?

Posted by: Blacktrench May 18 2012, 02:02 PM
Well Greg,

Your resource points was from a monthly allowance from your Father, you didn't earn it. So if you wanted that you'd have to convince your Father to back pay your allowance (have fun on that roll tongue.gif). Trick faces a different yet similar problem, he did earn his money from a job, so if he was able to maintain it while in Bedlam he would have a fair amount of money saved up however that might be difficult as day trips to repair factories aren't usually allowed heh.

Anyway If either of you somehow manage to maintain your resource dots I would simply upgrade you by one dot, however achieving that may be difficult happy.gif

Posted by: Greg May 18 2012, 02:37 PM
Heh, okay. That was more of a joke than anything else, but that could still be something that I can work towards if my parents ever visit me, or when I finally hey out.

Posted by: Blacktrench May 18 2012, 11:45 PM
Next time on "Bedlam and Broomsticks" wacko.gif

"Will our intrepid heroes manage to brave the cold comforts of London's cage for the rabid, derailed, and deranged? Join us as we follow William Fitzgerald and James Hunt through a truly "maddening" year; watch as these poor souls face off against their most horrific, most gruesome, most reviled foe yet, their own personal demons!" - Robert laugh.gif

Posted by: Blacktrench May 21 2012, 11:30 PM
Bedlam and Broomsticks is complete!

After the events of that year (and a bit) there will be a few changes!

The time lapse is now 1 year and 3 months.

Everyone will be getting 22 exp points to spend during that period.

I will talk to you all regarding the time period later.

I am exhausted so I will go to bed now...

Hey everybody,

I mentioned at last session I could do an extra session if you guys wanted. Monday traditionally works for everybody but let me know if you guys are in and when you could do it.

P.S. I am guaranteed to be able to do it Monday, and Tuesday latest 6:30 (if I am working) or at 5:30 as usual if not

Posted by: dingo May 28 2012, 09:26 PM
I can probably do that too.

Posted by: trick May 29 2012, 08:41 PM
I'm free too :-)

Posted by: Blacktrench May 30 2012, 02:34 AM
Alright, next session will be Monday at 6:30 pm

Since we are starting late I would like you all to have any experience you want to spend done before session as we are starting an hour later than usual; if you don't have it done before everyone arrives you'll just have to bite the bullet until next session, alright?

See you on Monday guys. happy.gif

Posted by: Blacktrench May 31 2012, 04:13 AM

I have just finished posting the Social & Mental combat rules

We will not be turning every social or mental contested roll into full combat however there are certain situations that deserve the extra attention so with that in mind please go over the rules as they will be used!

If you have any comments or questions regarding the new rules feel free to pm me or ask me on the forums.

Now I am going to bed, night! happy.gif

Hello party members,

I am creating a Wikispace for my nWoD campaign due to the amount of information I am uploading to the forum on a regular basis. The forum is great for general communication but for the level of detail I want a Wiki will be far more effective and easier for me as the storyteller. I will be granting editing privileges to you guys so you may add things as well.

The Wiki will include:

A character section for you to upload character information including but not limited to biographies, character images, stats etc.

My custom hacks

The Social & Mental Combat rules (and any changes I make to them)

A NPC list that will include images plus the party's current knowledge of said NPC

And finally a journal section for which you can upload journal entries from the POV of your character; journal entries will garner players extra experience! happy.gif

When I have got it up and running I will post a link here; scheduling and other miscellanea will remain the domain of the forum.

See you all later smile.gif

Posted by: Blacktrench Jun 12 2012, 01:32 PM
With the launch of my wiki for WoD I have re-branded my campaign to WoD - Masks as it is time this thing that an official name besides Blacktrench's nWoD Campaign.

I have just e-mail you permissions to my wiki. Please follow the instructions in the note that came with the invitation.

As for your character page, you may add whatever you like to it so long as it is organized and relevant.

Journal entries must be updated before the next session if you would like experience for that entry; furthermore these journals can take whatever form you wish so long as it is fitting (i.e. no blogging, but letters, research notes, even drunken internal monologues à la Max Payne = fine tongue.gif)

I hope you enjoy the new home of WoD - Masks happy.gif

Greg suggested doing a Monday session. I am fine with that as I am off work before 5:30. If you guys want an early session rsvp here.

Laters smile.gif

Edit: If we do the session, Journal entries must be posted on the wiki before the Monday session or no bonus xp alright.

Monday would be great. Are you planning to do two sessions this week? If not, I can do character creation for my campaign next Friday.

Posted by: Blacktrench Jun 16 2012, 12:51 AM
I like to keep Friday stable as possible but it depends on you guys, I have no idea how much you guys will get done on the Monday session (if it even happens) so until we finish that business I can't say.

Posted by: Greg Jun 16 2012, 06:58 AM
We'll discuss it at the session, I guess.

Hey everybody,

So far only Greg and Dingo was RSVP Monday. Unless I heard from Trick and Aggregate, whether forum or otherwise, there will be no Monday session.

So Aggregate, Trick, I need confirmation today.

Thanks smile.gif

Posted by: Aggregate Jun 17 2012, 03:39 PM
Monday works for me.

Posted by: trick Jun 17 2012, 03:55 PM
Works for me too.

Posted by: Greg Jun 17 2012, 08:45 PM
This post is unnessesary as Trick already posted. unsure.gif

Posted by: Blacktrench Jun 18 2012, 01:35 AM
Thanks for the RSVP guys

Session will be at 5:30 per usual.

On another note, first journal entry experience is awarded to Trick!

Journal experience will be awarded prior to the session via e-mail, txt, or Google Chat; thus allowing you to spend the points before we start, if that is your wish. I will be awarding a flat rate of 2 experience for an entry with the possibility for a bonus point if the journal was thoughtful, and gives more depth to your character. Due to the nature of this experience I will be cutting off journal entry awards at midnight the day before session.

This can bring your potential experience points to a whopping 13/session! biggrin.gif

See you guys tomorrow happy.gif

Probably won't be able to get there until 6:30, as I'm tutoring again.

edit: Never mind. 5:30 works fine.

Posted by: Blacktrench Jun 18 2012, 12:00 PM
No worries Greg

With the pacing of the session we likely can't add your new character in for a bit so you'll need to wait anyway tongue.gif

So show up when you like smile.gif

Hey everybody,

I was up doing changes to the wiki and I thought it be good to tell you to go go to the notify function on the top right editing bar so that you can have the changes to the pages sent to you so you don't need to watch the wiki like a hawk.

Posted by: Blacktrench Jun 21 2012, 03:00 PM
Hey people,

Do you guys want the normal session tomorrow as usual or to skip it since we had a session on Monday?

Due to the potential thing with Dingo I never got a yes or no at the end of last session.

Let me know, thanks smile.gif

Posted by: trick Jun 21 2012, 03:25 PM
I would like to have another session, particularly since it's going to be raining all day.

By the way, I won't be free at all next week.

Posted by: Aggregate Jun 21 2012, 03:36 PM
Another session would be good since we're not doing the "Tek T'Lau" thing this week.

Posted by: Greg Jun 21 2012, 08:20 PM
Works for me.

Posted by: Blacktrench Jun 21 2012, 10:21 PM

Session will be at 5:30 pm Friday

See you guys tomorrow happy.gif

Hey Y'all

Good session last night!

Next Session will be July 6th unless you guys want a Monday (July 2nd) Session as well

If you want an early session let me know before next weekend happy.gif

Hey y'all

Since no one posted for a Monday session before the weekend I will set our session for Friday the 6th.

5:30 pm smile.gif

Dingo, if you want to go over those character issues you brought up please show up at 4:30 pm if you can.

See you all then

Hey guys, could we move the game to either Tuesday or Wednesday (or possibly Monday?) I was supposed to go to Rainier this weekend but it was postponed on account of the weather. I just found out a few minutes ago that the weather isn't clearing up till next weekend, so I'll be leaving Thursday or Friday morning.

Sorry to get other plans in the way of RPG, but climbing a 4500m mountain is really weather dependant and there are other people relying on me too.

Posted by: Blacktrench Jun 30 2012, 12:14 AM
Hey Trick,

I understand the weather issues etc., I am very busy this week as half our staff on vacation. I cannot Wednesday but Tuesday is doable. Also that aforementioned Monday could work but it would be a late start (6:30ish) as I work til then.

Posted by: Greg Jun 30 2012, 01:48 PM
Tuesday will most likely work for me. I'd assume that Logan will be able to make it, unless he says otherwise.

Posted by: dingo Jun 30 2012, 03:31 PM
I would prefer Tuesday as well. Something came up on the 6th which I can't really move.

Posted by: trick Jun 30 2012, 06:58 PM
Okay, Tuesday it is.

Posted by: Blacktrench Jun 30 2012, 07:32 PM
Alright, so Tuesday.

Journal xp deadline will be midnight as usual

See you guys then

Hey Guys,

We will be having a week of downtime in Naas, so campaign will resume next session on the 15th of May, 1822.

As a reminder downtime stuff must be sent to me at least 2 days before session, so if we are having it on Friday, downtime will be due on the Wednesday.

We talked about having session next Friday as I have little prep to do; with that in mind please post whether or not you can may Friday the 13th *Evil Laugh*

Posted by: Greg Jul 4 2012, 11:17 PM
Works for me.

Posted by: Blacktrench Jul 9 2012, 11:54 AM
It has been almost a week since my post and I have had no replies on the forum or otherwise, except for Greg. Unless I get a consensus by tomorrow midnight I am pushing it back to next week as I have other things to do besides prepping game last minute tongue.gif

Posted by: dingo Jul 9 2012, 02:04 PM
EDIT: I'll actually take my hiatus from the game now. This is a good time for Ben to start working on financial concerns, since there's a period of downtime coming up. I'll come back after a session or two, I just need to focus on career stuff right now.

Ben will probably be travelling around Kildare for a little while. He'll set up a way for the party to contact him if need be.

Posted by: trick Jul 9 2012, 02:20 PM
Yes, Friday works for me.

Posted by: Blacktrench Jul 9 2012, 02:38 PM

Session will be at 5:30 pm

Posted by: trick Jul 24 2012, 10:20 AM
I'd just like to confirm that I will not be here next Friday. I'll be gone from the 29th till the 4th inclusive. I would be fine with a game shortly before then, or shortly after, but I'm not sure about other people.
By the way, in terms of free time when I get back. I'm pretty much available whenever, except Thursday (last Warhammer session) and I would prefer not on Wednesday, but that's still doable.

Posted by: Blacktrench Jul 24 2012, 10:21 PM
Attention group!

We need to reschedule the session date. As of right now I can run game Monday the 6th or Tuesday the 7th at 6:30.

If those dates do not work we are pushing it back to the Friday, the 10th at 5:30 at the earliest.

As per the rules I need a group confirmation on the forum a week before the session or it will be postponed indefinitely.

Posted by: Aggregate Jul 25 2012, 02:27 PM
The 6th and the 7th both work for me.

Posted by: Greg Jul 26 2012, 04:18 PM
Those days should both work for me.

Posted by: Blacktrench Jul 27 2012, 01:38 AM

My work schedule is slightly altered and I am not working on Monday, so we will do it then so we can start at our normal time.

Session will be at 5:30 pm on Monday, 6th.

Journals are due Sunday at midnight.

Greg your character stuff is due latest on Friday, 3rd at midnight.

Posted by: Greg Jul 27 2012, 06:41 AM
K. I'm going to try and get that done this weekend.

Posted by: Blacktrench Jul 31 2012, 04:53 PM
Hey guys,

I need you guys to add somethings to each of your character's profiles on the wiki. If you haven't already I need some basic info uploaded for my benefit.

I would like your character's age (birthday date) and physical appearance (height, weight, eye, hair, and skin colour) I do not require a photo but photos are welcome.

If you could update this before next session it would be great.

Dingo, if you are reading this, I would like Timothy to have a posthumous profile as I think he deserves a page, feel free to upload that whenever you have time as you are on hiatus smile.gif

Thanks guys happy.gif

P.S. Let me know if you want any help picking a format to upload the info in, otherwise I'll just see you on Monday.

Posted by: Blacktrench Aug 10 2012, 06:49 PM
I have a confirm from everyone for the 17th of August.

Session begins at 5:30.

Aggregate, please show up early so I can review your new character and thread it into our campaign, 4:45 pm ish will be best as your character will benefit from a in-depth intro.

Dingo will be rejoining us for this session as well.

See you next Friday.

Posted by: dingo Aug 12 2012, 03:17 PM
I actually can't make session this week, or any Friday for the rest of August. I pretty much need to take every hour I can get for the rest of the summer to make my practicum requirements, and the only times will be on Fridays. I wish I'd known about this sooner, but I really can't change it now.

Posted by: trick Aug 12 2012, 08:27 PM
That's too bad, hopefully we can find some other night of the week to play on next time.

Posted by: Blacktrench Aug 13 2012, 10:37 AM
Well that is unfortunate Dingo; I can only guarantee Fridays as we just lost our assistant store manager and I am having to fill in for his shifts. If you cannot make Fridays in August only at least that is only one more session after this one. If you can upload your alternative availability I will see if we can't find a different day or something for the remainder of the month

Talk to you later

Posted by: Blacktrench Aug 23 2012, 11:56 AM

I have my work schedule and I am not working Monday so session will be at 5:30 on the 27th

Greg, you're next in the buying caffeine rotation so please and thank you.

Dingo, I know you said you can't show up til 6:30 and that is fine as it'll be a bit before we'll likely be able to introduce your character back in anyway so show up when you can.

See you guys in a couple days smile.gif

Posted by: trick Aug 26 2012, 10:11 PM
FYI guys, I'm kinda sick. I'm not coughing or anything so it shouldn't be too contagious, but if I'm groggy tomorrow that's probably why.

Edit: I'm feeling a lot better now :-) I shouldn't have any problems tonight.

Posted by: Blacktrench Sep 5 2012, 10:50 PM
Alright I have my next weeks schedule; I can run game on the following days that week:

Monday the 10th at 6:30 pm
Tuesday the 11th at 5:30 pm
Thursday the 13th at 5:30 pm
Friday the 14th at 5:30 pm

I'm pretty sure the Monday, Tuesday, and Friday were a no go but just in case I am wrong I posted them anyway.

Please post whether or not we can do this.

Since we have already agreed on the 21st for a session that will not change regardless.

Hey all,

Session will be on the 21st as planned.

Greg will be either showing up later or not at all depending on how long his meeting goes so I will be npcing Brocc until he arrives *evil smile*

As such I will quote one of my favourite characters and state the following: "I highly recommend pissing yourself followed by a course of praying to your impotent god."

Now all kidding aside, it will be at 5:30 pm

Trick is on caffeine duty.

Journals are due at midnight per usual.

See you soon smile.gif

Hello Everybody!

Seeing as next Friday is a no for me and the friday after that a no for Greg and Trick, in theory, I am uploading some new options for the following week; I just got my schedule and it is very open if you guys want game, odd flukes en' all.

I can do:

Monday 5:30
Tuesday 5:30
Wednesday 5:30
Saturday 6:30

Seeing as Monday is coming very fast I'll need a confirm by midnight tonight otherwise it is off the list as I won't have enough time to prep.

Talk to you guys later

Posted by: trick Sep 24 2012, 06:15 AM
I can do Tuesday I believe. That's it. There is a slight possibility I could do Saturday, but I won't know until probably Friday or so.

Hey all,

Just a reminder about next session; it will be on the 26th of October.

We have a surplus of caffeine, thanks to Greg, so no one is on caffeine duty that week.

Journals are due midnight per usual

P.S. Trick I didn't get a confirm from you re: the 26th last session, please post a yay or nay by this Friday, thanks!

Hey guys,

So Trick is going away in December and this arc is likely coming to a finish soon; with that in mind I'd like to get two sessions in before he goes.

We have session for sure on the 23rd

I can do the following dates for the extra session:

November 17th, 19th, 20th, 24th (though that would be a little intense), 26th, 27th

December 1st, 3rd, 4th

Please post which of these days works ASAP so we can get this show on the road.

Later smile.gif

Posted by: trick Nov 15 2012, 08:41 AM
  • 20th: could work, as long as I know soon
  • 24th: I'm not sure and won't know till mid-next week ... also, it might be a later start.
  • Dec 3rd or 4th: works

Posted by: Aggregate Nov 16 2012, 02:18 PM
The days trick posted work for me as well.

Posted by: dingo Nov 16 2012, 02:51 PM
The only dates above that don't work are the 19th and 20th. Any other time is fine, AFAIK.

Posted by: Greg Nov 16 2012, 03:06 PM
I could do November 17th, 19th, 20th, or 24th, or 26th, as well as December 3rd or 4th.

Posted by: Blacktrench Nov 16 2012, 03:16 PM
Okay so we've narrowed it down to the following:

November 24th, December 3rd, and December 4th

Since the 24th is a "maybe" for Trick we'll have it on the 3rd or the 4th. I do not care which of the two so I am going to flip a coin... the 4th it is!

Updated schedule:

November 23rd at 5:30 pm

December 4th at 5:30 pm/6:30 pm (Day off/Working)

Journals due at midnight

Posted by: Blacktrench Nov 25 2012, 03:31 AM
Hey y'all,

Good end to the arc guys! I wanted to give you guys a heads up but whether FitzGerald, Frank, and James succeed or fail next session these characters are going to be not in a playable situation for a while or some of you will have to make new characters and put your current ones on the back burner.

With the reality of the situation in mind and after talking to Greg, Dingo, and Aggregate I have a few ideas for the next chapter in my world.

If we put the story of current party on hold we could focus on a new story and pick up directly in 1822 following a new party (or partially new party) depending on what kinda story I run (vampire, geist, a true hunter one, etc.) and jump back into this story when enough time in the world has passed.

Greg and I just finished up what happened in castle Rathangan and he is interested in playing his new shiny werewolf and I wouldn't mind running a werewolf story however you guys would all have to get on board with that because wolves typically don't run solo and doing one werewolf in a party is pretty hard as everyone else would likely die.

Dingo also mentioned wanting to continue with Ben and we could run a story surrounding playing a group of *spoiler* (for now).

in this story I could definitely include Eli, Aggregate.

However if you all wanted to play a story that is directly tied to this arc and the choices you have made during it, I have something completely ready to run. This story will have some character creation restrictions but you more or less will have freedom. This campaign will start in the 1840s; you will be playing four orphans that grew up together in an esteemed orphanage. As you all are the same age you attended classes together, bunked together, lived your lives together and through this became friends. I don't want to say anymore until I know you guys are interested in this story so I'll leave it at that.

Let me know if any of these sound appealing or if you have a suggestion for a thing/person you'd like to play as we continue on in the industrial revolution. smile.gif

P.S. Aggregate we need to hash out Frank's deal with God before next session, contact me ASAP.

Posted by: dingo Nov 25 2012, 02:16 PM
Yes, like I said, I'd love to play Benjamin if possible, especially with new developments. I'd be interested in doing a short *spoilers* campaign until enough time has passed (could be really, really interesting, especially with the direction Ben has taken).

The idea that start 20 years later could also be good. If we do that, I'm guessing we'd try to hypothesize where our current characters would end up?

Posted by: trick Nov 26 2012, 12:47 AM
I would probably prefer the 20 years later option. I didn't really like the current party very much, and I enjoyed the earlier part of the game.

Posted by: Blacktrench Nov 26 2012, 12:22 PM
Alright so we have two votes for my orphan story.

I'll mention again we could do something completely fresh with an entirely new party, it is up to you guys and I am fine with either.

Posted by: trick Nov 26 2012, 04:23 PM
In theory I would be interested in playing a party of mages, but in practice this would probably be a very bad idea.

Edit: just to be clear I would like to do the orphan idea, I'm just responding to Blacktrench's call for other ideas.

Posted by: Blacktrench Nov 26 2012, 05:24 PM
So after chatting some more with you guys it seems you all want to play the orphan story.

Now that will take place 20ish years from now and some of you guys want to wait and play something until we get there which I am totally fine for. So here is what I suggest we play a new story until we get to the 1840s then I run my orphan story.

Greg suggests a werewolf campaign and I have a tentative yes from Trick for that

Trick suggests a mage campaign which is doable but very complicated, if you guys wanted to run a human with a supernatural bent I could run a second sight, hedge mage, or a geist campaign.

As for Dingo's idea you would play "curse" humans with supernatural abilities because of it.

Also Trick has told me his trip is cancelled so if you guys want we can start this campaign on the 7th as next session as originally supposed to be then.

So if we do that the napoleon mini session would be on the 4th and the next story would start on the 7th.

Posted by: Aggregate Nov 26 2012, 06:06 PM
I'm fine with whatever we end up choosing but would prefer one of the mechanically simpler options over mage. I just want to avoid spending to much session time on the rules.

Posted by: Blacktrench Nov 26 2012, 06:50 PM
Alright Aggregate,

nothing is as complicated as mage so you're pretty safe with whatever else. I would recommend vampire, geist, werewolf, or hunter. They are the systems that are the most straight forward and the rules pretty much are what they are.

Whatever you guys decide this time around I'd like you all being the same templates; I'd like a break from rule hoping and at the same time it'll be interesting to see how you guys do as supernaturals on all the same page.

Posted by: Greg Nov 26 2012, 07:10 PM
I'd be into seeing where Ben's story continues from this point on as well, so I'd be open to going with the "cursed" idea.

One idea would be to save Brocc's Werewolf arc for even after the orphan arc, possibly doing a bit of a western flavored arc on the North American frontier. Just a suggestion for if the idea of a Werewolf campaign doesn't really appeal to everyone at this point.

I'm fairly open to any other ideas, as long as it doesn't mean that we won't be able to return to our old characters down the line. Well, I'd be fine with Fitzgerald dying in one of the upcoming arcs, but I'd like to go back to playing Brocc at some point.

Posted by: Blacktrench Nov 26 2012, 07:25 PM
hey Greg,

Thanks for the input. As it stands right now, if you want to play Brocc in a werewolf campaign I'd like to do it sooner rather that later because if too much time passes you'd become a fairly experienced wolf and isn't the story I'd want to run if I run a werewolf campaign. I'd like all of your to start as fresh new pups, as none of you are familiar with werewolf as a setting it'll make immersion easier. We can wait til later in time in history but I wouldn't want you playing Brocc then.

On a side note this time period is very good to play a werewolf as they tie very strongly in with the industrial revolution, strongly and violently.

As for FitzGerald he is too busy to die atm, remember our deal he is my npc now mwahahaha, you only get him back for the napoleon mission! tongue.gif

Posted by: Greg Nov 26 2012, 08:09 PM
I guess the most important question is whether a campaign with Brocc will rule out having a campaign following another character later. As long as following the story in one direction doesn't necessarily rule out the possibility of following another, I think we should be fine.

Posted by: Blacktrench Nov 26 2012, 08:18 PM
Greg, since I have built a living world your characters don't live in a bubble when you aren't playing them, so things can happen.

So what effects playing Brocc now vs. another character I have no idea, I won't know until events transpire in the world. So I wont guarantee anything either way.

Posted by: Greg Nov 26 2012, 10:04 PM
I get that, I suppose. I'll be fine with whatever we decide on.

Posted by: dingo Nov 26 2012, 10:25 PM

This is what I'm counting on with Ben. I know you'll take care of him as a character even if I don't play him.

Posted by: Blacktrench Nov 26 2012, 10:28 PM

So I am going to do my part now and list the systems/stories that I'd prefer to run as well as a general idea of the story I'd like to run. We've gotten some ideas out but no one is leaning super one way or another so here I go heh.

Vampire - This story would pick up about 4 months after the incident in Castle Rathangan, you will be playing a group of people bound for the new world; new opportunities and experiences for all comers, will you go west and survive the wilds of America and claim new territory for yourself or serve those already in power in the cities of New York, Boston, Philadelphia?

Werewolf - My werewolf story would take place a year after the Rathangan incident. You will be newly formed pack of Uratha finally on your first assignment for "The People"; glory and honor awaits you in County Wicklow on Ireland's eastern shoreline if you can work as team, survive, and rend bloody death to your enemies.

Geist - My idea for Geist begins on a cold winters eve on December 17th, 1837 in St. Petersburg, Russia. You find yourself that fateful evening at the Winters Palace; whether you are guest, servant, guard or other that night marks the end of your lives and beginning of something far greater.

Possessed - It has been 2 month since the Rathangan incident; you are looking out a window a shooting star falls above London and you are not alone, something dark and evil coils beneath your skin. It talks to you, whispers in your head, pushing you to dark deeds while promising absolute power. You have found others like you, that suffer like you do. Together you are strong, together maybe you can make this curse a blessing, maybe you can find freedom, or maybe you don't want that.

and... my Orphan story!

So if any of those sound interesting let me know or if you want me to expand on what I wrote, I will try to comply as long as it doesn't create spoilers.

Posted by: Greg Nov 26 2012, 10:39 PM
Aside from the orphan story, which sounds like it's already on everyone's to-do list for later down the line, personal interest in continuing Brocc's story has me wanting to do a Werewolf campaign most. Vampire would be my second interest, and Possessed would be my third choice.

Regardless of which gets picked, none of them are anything that I wouldn't be interested, I'm just throwing in my thoughts on which interest me the most.

Yeah, same here.

EDIT: Change my vote to:

1. Possessed
2. Vampire
3. Geist

1st. Possessed
2nd. Geist
3rd. Orphans.

  • Orphan
  • Vampire
  • Geist
  • Werewolve
  • Possesed

Posted by: Blacktrench Nov 27 2012, 01:37 PM
Alright so I looked at all the votes/highest on peoples interest lists and the two that had the most hits from everyone was...

Vampire & Geist

Both those had 3 votes and sat within the top 3 for everyone that voted for them. Choose between the two and majority wins, on a tie I'll choose.

Posted by: trick Nov 27 2012, 01:40 PM
Vampire, blah blah meeting post limit.

Posted by: Greg Nov 27 2012, 01:43 PM
Between those two, I'd prefer Vampire, as I like the idea of being a group attempting to establish a foothold in fresh territory

Posted by: trick Nov 27 2012, 01:45 PM
1822: Vampire Tycoon.

Posted by: Aggregate Nov 27 2012, 01:49 PM
Lets go west: Vampire.

Alright so 3 votes for vampire

I'd like you all to come up with a character, do not add the vampire template but create the human side of them. You are traveling to America for some reason, have fun with it; if you have any questions about your character ideas and the like drop me a line.

Vampire: Wild West Character Sheets:

I have some more information for you guys!

You have booked passage to New York city on the Black Ball Line's packet ship Amity.

You will be sailing out of Liverpool on September 30th, 1822.

The Amity made a habit of transporting people, mail, and goods to New York several times a year with nary an incident. I'm sure you'll be fine... *cough*

Depending on your resources merit you will be lumped into 2 categories.

Resources 0-2: You will be enjoying the comforts of the steerage section below deck. I hope you're not claustrophobic... unsure.gif

Resources 3-5: You will be privileged enough to have purchased a cabin ticket allowing you small private or semi-private rooms as well as deck privileges, and access to a bar. cool.gif

I want a journal from everyone from their characters for the end of the arc. To increase the likelihood you'll actually do it I am giving a double xp journal bonus! You can get up to 6 xp! This xp will go towards your new characters.

These journals will be due midnight Monday night.

Vampire! It's happening!

Posted by: Blacktrench Nov 27 2012, 05:04 PM
Yes it is!

Double checking the 7th works for everyone right!?

I will create a new character section on the wiki, upload your new character info following the standard info I requested last time:

Eye & Hair Colour

finish it up with a brief biography so I have an idea about your characters motivations etc.

Do everything except the vampire template I repeat no vampire stuff yet hehehe.

Please have this in ASAP thanks

Posted by: trick Nov 27 2012, 05:45 PM
Yup, the 7th works, but I would like the session to end by midnight since I'll be going climbing the next morning.

Posted by: Blacktrench Nov 27 2012, 08:53 PM
That should be fine as it is the beginning of the prologue; the first bit will most likely be last minute checks on everyone's character sheets then diving right in and we'll see how far we get.

Posted by: dingo Nov 27 2012, 10:29 PM
I'm good for the 7th.

Posted by: Greg Nov 28 2012, 09:33 AM
Arite. 4th and 7th it is.

Posted by: Blacktrench Nov 28 2012, 12:47 PM
Hey y'all,

so I added new to the wiki. We are going to be trying some new things so take a peek. The new rules will likely require a different character sheet so I'll see what I can find.

Posted by: Blacktrench Nov 29 2012, 01:22 PM
Hey y'all emergency conflict. My assistant manager just went into labour so I need to move the mini session to the 3rd if possible otherwise we'll have to back burner it til later.

Sorry guys

Posted by: dingo Nov 29 2012, 01:33 PM
3rd doesn't work for me.

Posted by: trick Nov 29 2012, 02:28 PM
3rd can work for me. I can't remember if dingo was supposed to be involved or not.

Posted by: Aggregate Nov 29 2012, 02:31 PM
3rd works for me.

Posted by: Blacktrench Nov 29 2012, 02:37 PM
Dingo was not involved, as ben in lying "dead" in the castle.

Posted by: dingo Nov 29 2012, 04:17 PM
Ah yes, silly me.

Posted by: Greg Nov 30 2012, 02:16 PM
I can make the 3rd work.

Posted by: Blacktrench Nov 30 2012, 11:31 PM

Session will be 5:30 pm on Monday.

Greg is on caffeine duty

Journals due Sunday at midnight (remember double xp towards new characters!)

Hey everyone,

Last night we finished the bonus session for the second arc of my Masks series, it was all levels of awesome special. tongue.gif

Next session is Friday at 5:30 pm

At the beginning of session I will be going over your character sheets and finalizing them; please have an inventory list ready for me in two categories, objects on your person and things in the cargo hold of the Amity

Like prior campaigns goals work the same so please share a online goals list with me.

We have left over caffeine from last night so no one is on caffeine duty

See you in 3 days!

Hey, so I still don't have a confirm for the 21st from Dingo.

Also this is a last call for requests and/or preferences regarding potential clan assignment.

Posted by: dingo Dec 13 2012, 06:07 PM
I'm good for the 21st. As far as Bella's clan, Daeva seems to make the most sense.

Posted by: Greg Dec 13 2012, 06:17 PM
21st works for me. I think Walter could work well with as any clan, with the possible exception of gangrel. He'd make a pretty scary Nosferatu, if it wasn't for the fact that he currently doesn't have any points in intimation, his strength is 1, and his expertises in fast-talking and deception would be nerfed by the Nosferatu social penalties. Personality-wise, though, it would be a good match for him.

Posted by: dingo Dec 13 2012, 11:33 PM
@Greg, I can see Clan Mekhet working for Walter. He's pretty shadowy. Or at least shady.

Posted by: Greg Dec 14 2012, 09:31 AM
Yep. Walter is an opportunist, so he would be able to work well with most of the clans that he could end up in.

Posted by: Blacktrench Dec 14 2012, 01:08 PM
Well your clan, like vice vs. virtue, can either act as a compliment to your personality or a foil. Dingo could for example get gangrel which would cause his vampiric nature to conflict with his characters personality emphasizing man vs. beast as a source of character conflict, making bella's transistion to a vampire more violent, figuratively; whereas a clan similar would create a faster change from human to vampire in nature and behaviour.

session is Friday the 21st at 5:30 pm

Dingo is on caffeine duty.

journals are due at midnight.

Posted by: Blacktrench Dec 30 2012, 12:36 AM
Hey all,

Just a reminder for session; it will be at 5:30 pm on Friday.

Please take a look at the following pdf to get yourselves in the right "mindset" for next session as you will slowly start changing from human to a predator with humanity as its mask.

I'm sure all of you either have it already or can acquire it easily.

This book details the favour and motivation behind many of the rules and behaviours that make up your vampiric existences. I would like you to focus on the sections on being a newly turned vampire and in particular frenzies as they will happen and it is my hope that you all will be comfortable enough with it to role play them when they occur.

Trick is on Caffeine duty.

Please have journals done at midnight before session and I would really like to see them as this is the last entry before you gain your templates and everything is changed! biggrin.gif

Posted by: Blacktrench Jan 13 2013, 12:50 AM
So as a heads up session will be on Saturday the 19th. Now with Trick taking a hiatus due to scheduling issues we potentially could have the session earlier than 5:30 and get more done or, perish the thought, end at a decent time! tongue.gif

Anyway if people can swing it, we can try starting at 4:00 pm - 4:30 pm; if we do start early that we will be stopping mid way through for a dinner break.

If that doesn't work we'll be starting at 5:30 pm per usual.

journals are due at midnight.

Greg is on caffeine duty.

See you all then.

Posted by: dingo Jan 13 2013, 04:26 PM
I'd love a 4pm start, especially since having a dinner break can really help keep a good energy level throughout the session.

Posted by: Greg Jan 14 2013, 02:17 PM
Hate to rain on the parade, but I recall mentioning that with the training seminar this weekend from the 18th to the 20th, I'll be in from Richmond from 8-5:00 pm on Friday Saturday and Sunday, meaning that I probably won't be there until 6:30, if I'm lucky.

I should, however, be able to manage an earlier start time on Saturdays after this one.

Posted by: Blacktrench Jan 15 2013, 07:55 PM
I have been in communication with Greg and it appears he will even be later making the session non-salvageable; also he cannot attend a Sunday session during the day (the only time I can on Sunday). I am delaying this session til two weeks time, the 4th of February, this will effectively make it almost an entire month in between sessions.

With that in mind I see no reason why you wouldn't be able to get a journal done and I highly recommend it as it will give you something to look upon when the ravages of time strip your minds of memory causing us to recap for an hour tongue.gif

Posted by: Blacktrench Jan 27 2013, 10:12 PM

Session is on Saturday at 4:00 pm

We will be having a dinner break mid way through so don't worry about eating before hand etc.

Greg is on caffeine duty.

Journals are due midnight

Posted by: dingo Jan 28 2013, 09:53 PM
Is there any possibility at all of moving this to Sunday? Just in general I prefer that day, but because I wasn't sure of when we'd be having session until Friday, I did commit to going to an event this coming Saturday.

Posted by: Blacktrench Jan 28 2013, 10:54 PM
I understand that things happen but I have to ask why you didn't bring this up when we were discussing it Friday? As I understand your post you made this commitment prior to Friday correct?

Posted by: dingo Jan 29 2013, 10:18 AM

Sorry, it's just very easy for me to make plans, forgetting about changes to the schedule. As Aggregate has said, the dream has always been to have one day of the week be RPG day, but the reality is that we have to plan it almost week-to-week. I guess I dropped the ball this time.

Posted by: Blacktrench Jan 29 2013, 12:44 PM

with already being 4 weeks since our last session we need to start facing the possibility that the america campaign might be a flop. I cannot do Sunday as I made my weekend plans according to the consensus on Friday and no one posted within the 1 week cut off I stipulated ages ago.

Based on the situation as is if Saturday cannot work for you, you will have to miss out; either that or we let this die as it will be very unlikely to keep momentum with a 6 week break in between sessions.

Based on the general unreliability of scheduling on a whole we need to make a decision; those that have problems with scheduling need to talk to me so we discover a situation that will be able to work for everyone or if that is untenable discuss putting WoD on hold indefinitely.

I would like opinions from all game members, even those on hiatus (Trick), on what we would all like to do. If we do end America and go on a full hiatus or if a minority people want to stop until their schedules stabilize depending on the remaining players and the general infancy of the campaign I can gut it and continue with the remaining players.

Posted by: trick Jan 29 2013, 01:06 PM
I think I would be pretty happy with any result. I enjoyed the Vampire story, and I would like to continue it, but I'm sure another story would go well too. I think over all the game has been a lot of fun, but roleplaying isn't a big part of my life right now, so if this died that would be okay.

One idea would just be to reduce the number of players, or make some players just have cameos as NPCs. In my opinion character-driven RPGs tend to work better with fewer people (they get rather sluggish with more people).

Posted by: Greg Jan 29 2013, 01:50 PM
I would prefer to keep playing with Mr. Clyde for the time being. I've been enjoying playing him so far, and would like to continue to do so, as I am invested in seeing where his story leads. (also, it's fun to do the voice)

As for the stabilization of schedules, I've just gotten through the rough part of scheduling my business, and have managed to cement an open space (Saturday evening) in my work and school schedule for the campaign. Sunday is also flexible enough for me to make it work, as long as I know at least a week in advance.

I'd be happy to keep the game going, even if at certain points we find ourselves down to two players. I agree with Trick's last statement of less players allowing for a better character-driven game. Some of the best moments in the campaign have been done during the mini sessions.

Posted by: Aggregate Jan 29 2013, 02:38 PM
Ah scheduling...

I don't really have a lot to add; if the game keeps going I'll keep playing.

Posted by: Blacktrench Feb 4 2013, 09:16 PM
Hey kids,

so Session will be on Saturday, January 16th (not 23rd I apparently lost my mind) tongue.gif

Greg will be running late due to his weekend high jinx but I'd like to see us start around 5:00 pm-ish. This will give us time to go over pre session stuff and when Greg shows we can just jump right into it.

Dingo, if you'd be able to show up around 4:15 pm we could wrap up what happened to your character negating the need for a mini session. Also you're on caffeine duty. smile.gif

Journals due midnight

I can do that. I'll see you then.

Hey, so if we're doing session on Wednesday, I need to know what time we're starting/ending. I remember mention of a 4pm start time (which would be ideal for me), but I don't remember if we settled on anything. I'm trying to schedule band practices for next week, and everyone is clamoring for a Wednesday night practice, starting probably around 9pm. If we could have session wrapped or if I could take off then, I'd be very grateful.

Posted by: Blacktrench Feb 28 2013, 07:16 PM
So game is at 4:00 pm on Wednesday the 6th.

Since we'll likely break for dinner since it is an early start I'll try and setup an intermission so you can bail as I won't cut the session early cuz you can't stay.

Journal is due at midnight

see you guys in a week smile.gif

Hey y'all i've been reading the new rules for disciplines and I am thinking of using them. Now the rules are still beta so they are not a final product but they're pretty cool. If I do switch everyone can POTENTIAL reassign discipline dots as the new version of prior discipline choices may not be desirable. I will link the new rules on the wiki. Anyway we'll discuss session logistics on wednesday, assuming I don't explode while moving

Posted by: Greg Mar 17 2013, 07:52 PM
Well, seeing as Blacktrench exploded while moving, we should probably discuss session logistics at this point.

Due to the whole cat allergy thing, we're most likely looking at carpooling out to Blacktrench's new place. I'd be fine with taking role of wheelman for this venture. The main issue here is determining how late we can go. Dingo has had to leave early a handful of times in the past few months, and were we to all carpool together, that may cause some problems in regards to session length. I personally am fine with going as late as we want, though it would be good to cut it off at about midnight at the latest, as I don't want to end up killing the campaign by falling asleep at the wheel and accidentally killing the players. tongue.gif

Posted by: dingo Mar 19 2013, 02:09 PM
Sounds good to me. The earliest I can leave Abbotsford is 4pm.

Posted by: Blacktrench Apr 1 2013, 09:22 AM
So we have some future hiccups for WoD

Dingo's friend (you know who tongue.gif) won't be able to join anytime soon and I still do not have a new character from Aggregate. dry.gif

So we do not have a location out in Abby that I can survive in to run game, and our roster is all over the place. With not having to worry about putting in Dingo's friend's character in this session I have a little more prep time so because of that Aggregate still has a chance to be able to play this Saturday however he needs to to have his character sheet into me by tonight (I already gave you a month to get that done) or we are looking at a Dingo, Greg mini session on Saturday. biggrin.gif

I can swing that mini session fairly easily as how I left the story last session but I need to know by tonight/tomorrow morning so I have to to prep for the mini session or the normal session.

P.S. if you guys are unable to come to my place we are looking at going on indefinite hiatus so just keep that in mind

Posted by: Greg Apr 1 2013, 02:52 PM
Driving and Saturday is fine.

Posted by: Blacktrench May 6 2013, 12:09 PM
Hey everyone

I've realized that with moving and everyone's schedules getting super busy we've all seen the decline in this campaign. We have stopped almost completely and as with everything like this it won't start again unless we come up with a plan (even if it doesn't get implemented for some time). This is understandable if disappointing however I still like to hold out hope a eventually we could at the least finish the original story in the final arch "Orphans". I understand that this might not happen for a while but I'd like to be proactive about this. I've also realized that if I don't bring this up now this is more and more likely not to happen so here I go:

Ideally I'd like all original players back for this - Trick, Dingo, Greg, and Aggregate. All of you made the Orphans arch what it will be and I feel you all deserve to see what you've made with your choices and characters.

If we'd like to roll this we need two things; a place we can use that works for everyone as well as a schedule that we can all adhere to.

A place will require some work as I am far away and most of you have animals (cats) that will kill me lol. I am thinking Trick if he wants to continue hosting or car-pooling out to me unless anyone has a better idea.

since I've been put on evenings the last two months it has limited what I can do for running a campaign however in June I am returning to mornings freeing up potentially any evenings.

So lets start getting some ideas on here because if this is gonna die I want our story to be finished first tongue.gif

Posted by: Greg May 6 2013, 06:53 PM
I am totally down for the Orphan Arc!

Posted by: Blacktrench May 7 2013, 10:23 AM
Thanks for posting Greg,

I have talked to Trick and it seems like he is willing to host/play assuming scheduling works. However, there is a few things we need to take into account if we play. Trick will be out of the county for July so we really need to front load this if we want to pull this off

We are looking at a session a week for June if we want to have a chance. July would be used for mini sessions and side questing, those sessions will be likely at my place but would not be as frequent so not as brutal especially if you car pool.

anyway lets focus on June for the time being; please post the days that will work for you to play. As I mentioned for June I potentially can run it any evening so please post your scheduling asap, thanks.

Posted by: Greg May 7 2013, 07:04 PM
My scheduling is rather dynamic, but if we can settle on a specific day and time in advance, I can make it work. Sundays are probably the least ideal for me, though. As that is when I need to enter my stats for the week.

Posted by: trick May 8 2013, 02:29 PM
Days that work for me tend to be Monday, Tuesday, and maybe Thursday. Knowing in advance definitely helps too.

Posted by: Blacktrench May 8 2013, 03:22 PM
Thanks for posting Trick

Once we have our day(s) of the week we will basically be having a session on that day every week til July so we will know ideally all of June before the month even starts. So the sooner everyone posts scheduling the better.

Aggregate I know you might know what your schedule is in advance but if you can give us any information possible (i.e. "even if i work I'll be off at x time...") I'd appreciate it

Dingo I know your schedule sits with Greg's but if you can give the evenings you can do this assuming you are going to play, please and thanks

Posted by: dingo May 8 2013, 10:40 PM
Currently my weekday evenings are free. I'm looking to get another musical project started, but I can hopefully schedule practices and such in a way that doesn't interfere with WoD.

Posted by: Aggregate May 9 2013, 05:47 PM
Currently I get off work no later than 17:30.

Posted by: trick May 10 2013, 09:42 AM
Me too, I get off work at 5, but don't make it back to abby till 5:45.

Posted by: Blacktrench May 10 2013, 03:10 PM
Alright guys so it looks like Monday, Tuesday, and potentially Thursday for June at 6 pm is our best bet.

I'd like you all to vote below which day you like the most

However before you vote keep the following in mind

1. This is only for June

2. This will be every week

During June I will get my July schedule and we will re vote for July's scheduling for the mini sessions that will take place during that time.

Trick will your preferred days remain the same for August? During July you will not be here and we will want to have it scheduled in advance so we can pop right back on board when you return

Please advise and vote smile.gif; as for the rest of you just vote! biggrin.gif

Posted by: Greg May 12 2013, 09:38 PM
Monday or Tuesday are ideal for me, as the week is fairly fresh and there is less panicking to finish jobs.

Posted by: trick May 13 2013, 02:05 PM
I would prefer Tuesday, but Monday would be okay, except Mondays connected to long weekends. Those are only good in bad weather tongue.gif

Also, an alternative to pausing for the month of July is if you guys just start separately without me and then I join with a new character in August.

Posted by: dingo May 14 2013, 07:32 PM
I am fine with either Monday or Tuesday.

Posted by: Aggregate May 15 2013, 01:17 PM
Either Monday or Tuesday would be fine.

Posted by: Blacktrench May 17 2013, 06:18 PM
Hello everyone so it appears that we are doing either Monday or Tuesday

since the incline is slightly more for Tuesday we will keep that a our day, if however for some reason that fails we have Monday as a backup

So now we need to get ourselves in gear character creation wise. During my creation of this arc I did mention their would be some limitations for cc I have tried to keep them minimal as possible but your character must fit within the bounds of the story.

This story is about family, but not in the traditional sense. You will be playing orphans that grew up together, relied on each other, became as close as siblings because you were all each of you had not because you shared the same last name.

The requirements for cc are as follows:

You will at be between 19-20 yrs old (within a year of each other)

You all grew up in the orphanage from a very young age, I will leave the age you came up to you however I must stipulate that I want it young enough that at the very least your memories of your true parents are almost non-existent or very vague at best to better enforce the ideas I mentioned in the blurb above.

between the ages of 13 to 15 you left the orphanage. Whether you guys stayed together or went separate ways is up to you. This period of 6 to 7 years is time you can have free reign with*. I do recommend that you keep each others characters in mind, they will be your family and the only people who give a damn about you.

* Aggregate I am watching you dry.gif

All character concepts and backgrounds must be approved before May 25th and all character sheets must be approved before May 31st.

Posted by: dingo May 17 2013, 11:20 PM
It sounds like a degree of collaboration in building this party would be really helpful, so if we can find the time, I'd like to work with you guys to determine the shape of this "family." We had some pre-set relationships figured out between James and Eli way back when, but given the themes put forth, this campaign calls for something deeper.

Anyone up for collaborative character creation, and if so, how ought we go about it? Ideally it'd be a conversation we all have in a room together, but that may not be realistic.

Posted by: Blacktrench May 18 2013, 12:37 AM
I agree with Dingo that collaboration would be helpful, even if it is just via this forum or otherwise. I haven't decided where the orphanage will be exactly however it will be Western Europe; a side from that I can also tell you that it will be somewhat secluded and small though tied to a Christian denomination.

If you guys have any questions regarding the orphanage or your character's childhood, feel free to ask.

Posted by: trick May 20 2013, 02:13 PM
Are we playing Innocents or Mortals?

Posted by: Blacktrench May 20 2013, 02:15 PM
Mortals, Innocents are for kids and you will be between 19-20 yrs old

Posted by: dingo May 21 2013, 07:14 PM
I suggest that we just start posting our character concepts. As we see each other's concepts and get a sense of how their narratives might have intertwined up to the point of the campaign, we can make revisions and suggestions to our and others' characters, respectively. I figure that we can always make changes when we find out what the other characters are like, but we can't revise nothing.

I still need to type mine up, but I plan to have it posted tomorrow morning. If anyone else has their typed up, you go first!

More background info!

The orphanage will be in... Ireland. tongue.gif You grew up in orphanage in the South of County Louth.

The campaign will also be in 1841

Your knowledge of the outside world is limited until you leave the orphanage, you were kept on site and any "adventures" off the ground were met with harsh physical punishments. (backstory opportunity? tongue.gif)

After you left the orphanage you would gain this as a basic foundation of knowledge as it was the biggest news

The British Imperial Empire has seen a prolonged period of calm and stability however do not take this as a sign that it has been peaceful. Roughly between 1825-1830 The Empire became host to a number of unprovoked extremist attacks. These attacks were quick, bloody and discriminant as civilians and military were targeted alike. At first the empire believed that these were separate, isolated incidents until a group started to take credit for the attacks.

Calling themselves Le Premier Soleil (The First Sun), a group comprised of french terrorists claimed to be responsible for all of these incidents and declared a private war against the Empire for some imagined slight; they claimed that the King of Britain was at the heart of some conspiracy and that the true citizens of France would no longer abide a world that would turn a blind eye to the King's activities. Obviously this was the delusions of mad men and anarchists but that did not make them any less effective in their mission.

The soldiers of The First Sun were frighteningly effective at evading detection while unleashing hell in the form of quick surprise attacks, sabotage, and assassination. By 1834 the Empire found itself on the losing end of a war with a faceless enemy. The Empire closed its borders and became paranoid. However a young private in the British service was about to change everything. This individual discovered a plot to have the King of France assassinated and have the Empire blamed. King Louis Philippe of France had up to this point claimed a neutral stance in these affairs, stating that these extremists were not supported in any fashion by the French people staving off the threat of war. This made tracking the vermin difficult as the Empire could not violate the French borders without risking a real war; if Le Premier Soleil had succeeded it would have meant all out war with France, a prospect that the Empire could not afford with these lunatics running around. In the simplest of terms, it would be chaos.

Do to the heroic efforts of this soldier and a select few the attempt on King Louis was unsuccessful, further more it was the push that King William needed to force open Frances borders to the Empire. A compact was struck between nations and a new branch of the Empire's military was born; The Vigil Black.

This branch of the military would act autonomously above all others except the King. The Vigil would stamp out threats to the Empire that the slow march of bureaucracy could not contend with. This select few would also be allowed into France and could police it with minimal interference from the local authority; such was the sacrifice of King Louis Philippe I.

Within a year of The Black Compact with France Le Premier Soleil was on the run without a single hole to hide even in their home county. It was a long road but eventually order had returned to France & the Empire, under the watchful eye of the Vigil. Travel in and out of the Empire has begun anew with the coronation of Queen Victoria opening the borders again in 1837 but warning all those that would seek to harm Britain or her colonies to remember our Vigil, Black.

So basic timeline

1831 - Le Premier Soleil takes official responsibility for terrorist attacks
1834 - Plot to murder the King of France discovered by a British soldier and halted
1835 - The Vigial Black is created by King William & given autonomy in the Empire
1835 - The Vigil is allowed into France & given similar authority
1836 - The Vigil successfully destroys Le Premier Soleil reducing them to a mere fraction of it's original size and power
1837 - Queen Victoria ascends the throne reopening the borders while keeping the Vigil instated for the security of the Empire

Have fun! biggrin.gif

Stephen Sullivan was given to the orphanage when he was three years old. He tended to keep to himself most of the time, though there were a select few of the other children he would speak to. Most people to him were hostile; almost all the rest were uninteresting. He earned a reputation for being odd, yet confident in his own way, speaking some of the strangest conclusions and intuitions… and often being proven right in the end.

Despite this, he became a leader among the children, for a number of reasons. First, he was the most likely to have a plan. When it was decided that something must be stolen, he was the one to orchestrate distractions and getaways. Secondly, he was naturally big and strong. He was not particularly violent, but he could hold his own against all the other boys and protect the weaker children when things got too unreasonable for words to take effect.

When he was 14 years old, Stephen directed some of the children to snatch a few things from a local baker’s shop. It had seemed like an easy enough operation, and nobody should have gotten hurt. However, Stephen had not planned for ruffians from the local mob to terrorize the shop while they were inside. The other two children and the baker himself managed to escape through the front door, but Stephen was caught in the middle of three thugs. Two of them proceeded to attack Stephen, who managed to hold his own for nearly ten minutes. Eventually, Stephen lay on the floor of the bakery, barely conscious and spitting up blood.

It was weeks later that Stephen again encountered one of the mob: the man who had kept back from attacking him. He was older than the other thugs, in his mid-40’s. His name was Lively, a former boxing champion who was down on his luck and taking jobs as hired muscle. He had seen the natural skill with which he defended himself, and told Stephen that he would have work for him when he was out of the orphanage: clean, legitimate work, as a fighter. Stephen felt he had nowhere else to go, so he agreed to train with Lively and earn his keep by fighting.

Stephen’s career has had its natural ups and downs. He is better than the average fighter – possessing a strong sense of strategy and an effective use of his body – and has escaped the fate of the “journeyman” boxer.

A big part of Stephen hates boxing. He finds some satisfaction in the strategy and the thrill of victory, but those things have largely faded. He would much rather spend his time in study, or at the very least on his own where he can think. He still lives with Lively, and so spends a significant amount of his time training.

Stephen has grey eyes and light brown hair, cut quite short. He normally weighs between 152 and 159 (fights in middleweight class) and stands 5’6”. He often has some lacerations and bruises on his face from fights. His left ear was permanently damaged from a series of particularly hard blows to the side of the head, leaving visible scarring.

Is there anything missing here? Guys, any suggestions for interactions with other characters? Who would interact with Stephen?

hey you win first post however there needs to be some changes.

I will elaborate on this as a whole for everyone in case I wasn't clear enough.

In the info on character creation I stated that you all left all the orphanage between 13-15 years old, the age of majority so you were basically an "adult". post that period you can do what you like however this means you will not be adopted from the orphanage, if you get people in your life after that period that became important to you that is fine but you grew up in an environment that wasn't conducive to trusting others besides your group as the other kids where very mean, verbally and physically as well as the staff just ignored unless you forced them to pay attention to you (misbehaving etc.) If you did want your character to make new bonds after you left the orphanage put emphasis on how difficult it was learning to trust them, maybe they had to scale metaphorical mountains and finally you begin to feel like that maybe they aren't so bad. Alternatively you could have all too easy too accept, like breathing but in the back of your mind you just hope it isn't too good to be true. Your adaptation to the world is a gold mine for character growth and a great place to make your character shine.

If you guys need any more elaboration let me know smile.gif

Growing up surrounded by boys, and being teased in her childhood for her one eye, Neila was driven to prove herself to keep up, if not outpace her male peers in physical competitions. As a result, Neila acquired a physical aptitude for athletics and fighting. Despite her physical aptitude, Neila also developed an interest in other areas, excelling in what limited education was available to her at the orphanage, with a particular fondness for both history and mythology, and finding some enjoyment in singing, through participation in the Church choir.

After leaving the orphanage, Neila had limited career options available to her, and even fewer that she found particularly appealing. She briefly considered joining the Poor Clares as a nun, but decided against it feeling that the life as a nun would offer little to no contact with her childhood friends. She ultimately fell in with (Logan’s Character) in his entrepreneurial venture as an “assistant”, but pretty much operating as a bodyguard,. While she may not particularly approve of the lives that she and her friends are building for themselves after leaving the orphanage, she maintains close ties to her fellow orphans and does her best to support them, as they are the few people who accept her

As a little boy, Edward was cross-eyed, a condition which entailed endless physical bullying and emotional teasing. Edward looked up to Stephen, one of the few stronger boys who didn’t call him names or try to steal his food. The staff at the orphanage did nothing to keep him from bullying and after a while Edward had lost all faith in authority, but Stephen was different. Edward and Neila became natural companions, and for a while Edward even had a crush on Neila, but was too awkward to do anything about it (also he was afraid that Neila would beat him up if he said anything).

Eventually Edward grew out of being cross-eyed, turning into a handsome young man, but the bullying left permanent emotional scars. Edward trusted no one outside his small group of friends. After leaving the orphanage, he eventually got a job with a travelling theatre troupe. Acting to him, felt like liberation from the realities of life, and he embraced it. Although he started off acting out simple child roles, he grew into a fine actor, and a violin player too.

A few months ago, two prominent members in the troupe went missing. No one saw them, but the likely theory is that they drunk themselves silly and fell off a bridge nearby our camp. In the fallout, the troupe disbanded and Edward, with nothing else to do, and almost nothing to live off, went looking again for his old friends.

Alright so I have a background from everyone. I will make a new section on the wiki for you guys to transpose and update as well as a journal section

Dingo, since the basic idea of your personality and history likely won't change I am not freaking out but please update your post or the wiki in a the next few days, thanks.

Everyone first session will be at Trick's, June 4th at 6:00 pm. Since I work early in the mornings and will have to cut session around 11:30 pm I will be changing a few things for start of each session.

Please be on time! If you're late their will be consequences; I will set 6:00 pm to 6:15 pm to approve goals and experience expenditure. We will be starting at 6:15 pm whether you're on site or not. If you show up later have no fear you can pop right in as I will be npcing your character until you arrive however you will not be able to spend xp or set new goals for the session; we have a lot to cover and I am not gonna punish those who show up on time because someone was tardy by shortening the session time.

I would like to ask you to keep the 15 minutes limit in mind as it isn't very much time so I recommend sharing a Google doc with me prior to session for goals per the norm now so you don't run the risk of not being finished when the 15 minutes are up.

Journals will likely not change, I will let you know if they will.

Reminder: Character Sheets are due soon, May 31st.

Cheers smile.gif

Edit: Wiki update is complete, new journal section and your old characters have been moved to inactive smile.gif

Hey everyone,

I have talked with a few of you today about this however I have recently become host to an issue with my right eye. The pain is pretty bad to the point where I am actually worried about driving with it.

At this time unless it gets better (which it has been doing just the opposite) I don't feel comfortable coming out so unless you guys are willing to trek out here we are looking at cancelling session. Please get back to me asap so we can figure out if session can be salvaged or not

Posted by: Aggregate Jun 17 2013, 11:00 PM
We talked and it works for us to drive out so assuming you're still up for running session tomorrow we'll be there around 6.

Posted by: Blacktrench Jun 21 2013, 05:35 PM
Hey y'all

So for the rest of June/July We'll be short Trick so it will be at my residence until he returns. Unless anyone has any qualms against remaining on Tuesdays I am fine with that.

So Tuesday will be the last June session. Afterward we need to decide how many sessions you guys can swing for July.

Anyway we can discuss here or on Tuesday

Talk to you guys later

Posted by: dingo Jun 24 2013, 11:53 AM
I'm good for session tomorrow, assuming Greg and Aggregate are as well. I can contribute for gas costs as well.

Posted by: Greg Jul 1 2013, 07:49 PM
So... Are we doing anything tomorrow?

Posted by: Blacktrench Jul 2 2013, 11:46 AM
Session was assumed to be happening unless you guys posted otherwise; so ask the others and get back to me asap

Posted by: Greg Jul 2 2013, 06:21 PM
Hmm... I guess not, seeing as it is 7:20... Great job everypeoples! Next Tuesday!

BTW: I did the journal entry, do I get things?

Posted by: Blacktrench Jul 22 2013, 11:18 PM
Hello everybody,

So I have some bad news, they have changed the scheduling for August, I am losing my Monday day off on 3 of the 4 weeks of August. I also am working 6 day weeks for 2 of those weeks leaving Sunday as my one and only day off and this isn't going to work with this schedule. So unless we finish via online which is something we could do. is fairly useful as it can incorporate Google hangouts with integrated dice roller, setups for character sheets as well as a map if I require it; plus it can do background music, which I love oh so much.

Anyway post your opinions and we'll go from there

Posted by: dingo Jul 23 2013, 01:03 AM
We've never given online play a real shot before, other than play-by-post, and one time when we had someone video in for a session or two.

I'd be down, but there is still the question of when to play. If we're playing in real time with hangouts, we'll still need to set aside session times. Time-wise, the main advantage is that there's no travel involved.

If Sunday is the only day, I'm fine with that, but it depends on others' scehdules.

Posted by: Blacktrench Jul 23 2013, 03:34 PM
I'm pretty sure Sunday doesn't work for everyone, I could do later on other days if it was over the internet via a program like skype or hangouts, which might work out better as no commuting.

Posted by: dingo Jul 23 2013, 11:37 PM
In that case, could you possibly run sessions more often? I understand if that doesn't work for you (6-day weeks do take a toll), but you did mention a little while ago that you weren't certain that we'd be able to finish at the pace we're going. Just saying I'm up for it, but obviously my schedule is the least restricted.

Posted by: Greg Jul 25 2013, 07:37 PM
I'd be cool with online play using skype or hangout. Just shoot me a text or email a day in advance so I know for sure what we're doing.

Posted by: Blacktrench Jul 31 2013, 11:45 PM
Hey guys so first Skype session wasn't a giant failure!

However with Trick disappearing and us having no way of knowing if he was back or not, I think using webcams would be helpful so I can keep campaign on track. I know Dingo, Trick, and myself have cameras; I believe Greg has one in his phone for Skype so that only leaves Aggregate as a unknown.

If Aggregate needs to buy one they're pretty cheap, if this campaign is going to keep running it'll make herding you cats manageable tongue.gif

Please have a webcam ready for next session on August 4th at 7:30 pm

See you guys on Sunday.

FWIW, I did way I was AFK again in the chat window, though it might be easy to miss stuff there.

Posted by: Blacktrench Aug 1 2013, 12:15 PM
You did post but as you said if I miss it I have no idea if you're still there or not; whereas with a camera I can see and react accordingly.

Posted by: Blacktrench Aug 15 2013, 01:30 PM
Hey guys,

So on Sunday we have next session. The day after I am starting in early mornings at work so I'd like to have us all "meet up" around 6:00 - 6:30 pm so we can get enough done before I have to leave.

Please txt, email, gchat, or post to let me know if this works.

Posted by: dingo Aug 17 2013, 12:22 AM
Will do, talk to you guys then.

Posted by: Blacktrench Aug 19 2013, 03:58 PM
Session is tomorrow Tuesday not Friday. We'll be meeting online at 6:30 pm.

We will be using Skype with video imported into roll20 due to Trick's technically difficulties.

See you tomorrow

Posted by: dingo Aug 19 2013, 04:28 PM
Sorry to hear that. I'll hopefully be able to game with you guys in the future. Have fun.

Posted by: Blacktrench Sep 4 2013, 03:38 PM
Hey guys,

This is just a reminder that tomorrow's session will be a live session at Trick's unless scheduling does not permit in which case it'll be online via roll20.

Session will begin at 7 pm and I have it planned for roughly 4 ish hours. Please be on time or session will be cut short.

See you all tomorrow.

P.S. Please contact me in advance if anything is going to get in the way as I don't want to drive out to find out session can't happen, thanks

Posted by: trick Sep 5 2013, 09:13 AM
By the way, you're welcome to come over at 6:30 and eat junk food & hang out.

Posted by: Blacktrench Sep 20 2013, 03:15 AM
hey guys,

So Dingo is ready to come back to campaign after his short hiatus and Trick has given me his weekend availability. If we want a session this week I can do Saturday evening or Sunday mid-morning; obviously if we are doing Sunday we will be online for sure whereas Saturday I'll give you 50/50 whether or not it'll be through roll20 as I have to get a super lot done this weekend (Saturday especially)

So to recap

Two choices:

Saturday at 7 pm - 11/12 pm - 50% chance of online

Sunday at 11 am-3/4 pm - 100% chance of online

Take care and talk to you soon

Posted by: dingo Sep 20 2013, 09:58 AM
I would prefer the Saturday evening.

Posted by: trick Sep 20 2013, 11:55 AM
Me too, bla bla character limit.

Posted by: Blacktrench Sep 21 2013, 12:14 AM

so since no one else posted I don't even know if tomorrow or sunday works for Greg or Aggregate.

In this vain we will count it as tomorrow, Saturday.

However because it may be a bust I am thinking it'll be online via roll20.

Please get logged on by 7 PM

Posted by: Greg Sep 21 2013, 03:40 PM
So today? I had thought we discussed Sunday, but if we're on for today, I'll put my other plans on hold so we can do this tonight.

Cuz that's how much I love you guys.

Also, Aggregate is confirmed for gaming tonight.

Posted by: trick Sep 21 2013, 04:02 PM
I had gotten that impression too, but I guess there was a little miscommunication. Thanks for putting your plans on hold.

Posted by: Blacktrench Oct 5 2013, 10:03 AM
Hey everybody

Trick got back to me regarding next session so it will be on Sunday around noon.

Please be logged into roll20 latest 12:30 pm so we have time to do house keeping.

See you guys tomorrow smile.gif

Posted by: dingo Oct 5 2013, 10:14 AM
I'll be online as early as I can, but I can't promise I can make 12:30.

Posted by: dingo Oct 6 2013, 03:40 PM
Hey all,

Aggregate, Greg, and I spoke after the session today, and we agreed that Wednesday the 16th seems the best day for next session.

@trick, does that work for you? And what time would we start?

Posted by: trick Oct 8 2013, 01:04 PM
I can't remember if we talked much about plans for next session. Anyways, I think we should do next session on the 18th at Grant's place. Ryan, Logan, and Greg can carpool from Abbotsford, and I can meet up with you guys at 5:30pm at exit 66 (on the gravel parking on the overpass).

If this doesn't work for people, let me know.

Posted by: dingo Oct 9 2013, 07:56 PM
I can't provide a ride, but that's fine with me assuming Greg or Aggregate can drive.

Posted by: Greg Oct 12 2013, 06:37 PM
I suppose I could provide transportation. I got all the junk out of my car, so there should be enough space.

More importantly, are we doing 16th or 18th?

Aggregate Dingo and I discussed Wednesday working best, but Alan is saying Friday.
Friday does NOT work very well for me because I have to get up at 4:30 the next morning.

Posted by: Greg Oct 12 2013, 07:52 PM
If need be, I could make Friday work, but someone would probably would have to handle the driving, at least on the way back.

Posted by: Aggregate Oct 13 2013, 04:14 PM
Either the 16th or the 18th work fine for me but I'm going to assume the 16th doesn't work for trick based on his post. I'm good to drive.

Unless something changes I plan to pick Greg and dingo up around 5 at their respective houses and then trick off of exit 66 on Friday the 18th.

Posted by: Blacktrench Oct 13 2013, 11:19 PM
Then it is settled; Friday evening at my place.

On a side note, Greg started pestering me to update the wiki so I have started to update it so feel free to go and check it out.

If anything changes please let me know.

Posted by: Greg Oct 23 2013, 04:27 PM
So at the end of last session, those in a attendance had seemed to come to agreement that the next session should be held on Wednesday the 30th. Does work with Dingo's schedule, and does it still work for everyone else? (I know Trick needed to move some stuff around to make that work, but he indicated that it would be doable still.)

Posted by: dingo Oct 24 2013, 03:10 PM
Would that be an in-person session? I do have that Wednesday free (and I did check my schedule to make sure).

Posted by: Greg Oct 24 2013, 04:53 PM
I believe that it was to be an in-person session. Most of the online ones tend to not make very much progress due to one of the five of us having issues with their technology.

Also, yay for checking! A lot of progress was made last session, so it might be good to get you caught up with the goings on beforehand to save some session time in explaining everything through RP.

Posted by: dingo Oct 25 2013, 12:15 AM
Maybe we can do that on the drive into town... unless it's at Trick's?

Posted by: Greg Oct 25 2013, 04:10 PM
We're looking at a session at Blacktrench's place. I could drive this time if people want.

Posted by: Greg Oct 26 2013, 04:06 PM
Interesting news guys. I'm back in a full time job again. I'm not entirely sure what this means just yet, but since I'm not running the show this time around, at worst we could have a slightly delayed pickup time.

No changes to the plans should be necessary.

Posted by: trick Oct 30 2013, 08:41 AM
I'll see you guys on the road by the gas station, same time as last time.

Posted by: Greg Nov 6 2013, 11:42 PM
Putting up a reminder that last we discussed, session was going to be on Thursday the 14th. While it's Trick's turn to drive, Aggregate, (Dingo if he's still coming?) and I should probably carpool to where we normally pick him up, and then switch rides.

Posted by: Blacktrench Nov 13 2013, 01:49 PM
Hey guys, I need to know if tomorrow is session. Aggregate, Trick please contact me asap. Dingo is out out for now.

Posted by: Greg Nov 13 2013, 06:14 PM
Yes. Tomorrow is session. I've talked to everyone already.

Posted by: trick Nov 14 2013, 09:32 AM
Let's plan to meet at my place at 5pm. I can't drive so I'll need to end up there anyway. I'll compensate whoever's driving for the gas.

Posted by: Blacktrench Nov 23 2013, 02:56 PM
Update for tomorrow:

So I am sick (you can send your thank you letters to my dentist who works on my mouth while sick last Monday).

Based on this fact and that I have lost my voice, assume tomorrow's session is cancelled unless otherwise mentioned. I am switching to mornings so we can reschedule for some day during the week if we want too.

Anyway, sorry guys.

Posted by: Greg Nov 25 2013, 04:21 PM
What day would you want for this week? I have a fairly open schedule, so it's probably up to you and Trick.

Posted by: trick Nov 26 2013, 07:05 PM
I'm pretty open too, except not wednesday.

Posted by: Blacktrench Dec 6 2013, 06:17 PM
Hello! So update

I am not dying atm so we need to arrange the next session! Next two weeks I work 11-7 pm with Saturday and Sunday off starting this Sunday. After that we are getting into xmas which I have a lot of time off as I am working for "teh big corporation".

As this is happening I know we all are busy with family etc. for the holidays however if possible I'd like to know if you guys were up for a mega session or two? Once I know there is interest we will get down to logistics.

Anyway looking fwd to your responses.

Posted by: Greg Dec 6 2013, 06:25 PM
Hey! Welcome back to the realm of the living! biggrin.gif

I'm available on Sunday the 8th, and Saturday the 14th. Following that, I think my availability should be relatively open until Christmas Eve.

Mega session would be a yes!

*You posted right between when I checked the main forum and when I went to the thread.

Posted by: Blacktrench Dec 8 2013, 05:08 PM

My schedule just was changed last minute!

I work 7-3 pm this week!

We are looking at a possibility of a weekend game Friday or Saturday with no time limit or we are looking at a weekday game (or Sunday) like the ones we had last time I was on super early mornings (You guys either come out to my place or we have a super short session at Trick's.

Anyway please give me a heads up asap as my schedule will not remain free if I do not heard from you.

Posted by: Greg Dec 8 2013, 05:54 PM
Weekday evenings work for me. I'm doing some painting for someone this weekend, but I'm doing it on my own and have more than enough time to do it in, so I can start as early as everyone else. Since you're putting it up as an option, all day Friday should also work for me.

Posted by: trick Dec 9 2013, 11:44 AM
Weekdays are a no-go for me. Also, I really would like to have Saturday free if possible. Sunday works great though.

Posted by: Aggregate Dec 9 2013, 12:19 PM
Sunday would be the best option for me as well. I'm on call for the next few weeks so I can only give a maybe to any day but Sunday.

Posted by: Greg Dec 10 2013, 11:20 AM
Well, this particular Sunday is a no-go for me, as I'm doing an annual Christmas trip to Vancouver with my family.

Posted by: trick Dec 10 2013, 02:42 PM
What about Friday evening?

Posted by: Greg Dec 10 2013, 02:59 PM
Yes, Friday in the evening works for me. Sounds like a maybe for Aggregate due to the uncertainty of his work.

Posted by: Blacktrench Dec 11 2013, 07:10 PM
So since it looked like Sunday was going to be the day, I was invited to social event on Friday and I gave them a yes. This was before I checked the forum last night that you guys were looking at Friday now. As Aggregate is at least a 50/50 due to being on call I'd rather schedule for a certainty than a session that may or may not happen.

As such we are getting close to xmas and new years. Now I have a butt load of time off as we were talking about a potential mega session.

besides xmas eve and xmas day (which are no goes, obviously) I have boxing day and the following day off (26th and 27th) as well as the day before news years, new years eve and new years day. So New Years plans aside I'd like you to think if you guys would like to have a double session and really get a lot done on potentially one of those days.

Anyway As for normal session, since Sunday is a no go and Friday now is unavailable for me, we are looking at pushing it to next week at least.

Posted by: Greg Dec 11 2013, 08:02 PM
Well, if the weather's too crappy on Sunday, we might not be going to Vancouver anyways, freeing up my schedule for a session. If people can try to avoid scheduling any engagements for Sunday, we can see if we can make that work.

I don't think there are any plans up until Christmas Eve, so if we have to schedule something for the following week I'm still open.

I think my family may be going to Oliver following Christmas, but it isn't necessary for me to go, and if everyone else can buckle down for a mega-session or two between Boxing Day and New Year's Eve, I can do my part to make it happen.

Posted by: trick Dec 12 2013, 11:20 AM
I'll keep Sunday open. If Grant can't make it, but the rest of us are free, we can always play games again or something like that.

Posted by: trick Dec 13 2013, 04:06 PM
Actually, I made plans for this Sunday now, so no games at my place.

Posted by: Greg Dec 15 2013, 11:16 PM
So what's the llan for this week? Can we try to swing a weekday evenkng session, or are we looking at Friday/Sunday?

Posted by: Greg Dec 17 2013, 11:40 AM
So... Friday or Sunday people? If we don't hammer this down we're going to miss another opportunity.

Posted by: Greg Dec 19 2013, 10:06 AM
Sounds like Sunday may be the last opportunity we have before Christmas, from my conversation with Aggregate. Waiting on trick and Blacktrench for confirmation.

Beteween Christmas and New years is looking a bit trickier for me. Family trip is more likely going to see me stranded out in Oliver until the 29th. I could still probably do an online session, if people are up for that. Otherwise, my availability for a mega-session would be limited to the morning/afternoon of the 30th.

Posted by: Blacktrench Dec 20 2013, 01:20 AM
Sunday is doable but I work super early the next day so it would have to be at my place. Anyway earlier you guys can arrive the better. I can be home earliest a little after 4 pm, assuming transit isn't screwy.

As for mega session, the 30th works as I have all of it off.

Posted by: trick Dec 20 2013, 10:09 AM
I can make sunday, but I'd prefer if it doesn't go too late too. I'm just recovering from a flu, so I'd like my full beauty sleep.

Also, I don't know about the 30th. I think I'm working that day.

Posted by: Blacktrench Dec 20 2013, 02:35 PM
So we are in agreement, Sunday works so long as we start early. I will need to be kicking you guys out latest 11 pm so I can get up at 5 am.
